Argh, Bioware. No story? NO STORY?!
This is what pisses me off about these hybrid games. ME (and F3 for that matter) is a RPG-- NOT a shooter. I don't want to play goddamn "combat scenarios" with no plot-- and in a game with only 'serviceable' battle mechanics. I can enjoy the battle system but we all know, like F3, it is not a pure shooter. So stop pretending it is.
The strength of this game was never in its combat, it's the story-telling ability and expan...
"Dam, since when did i say milking a franchise is bad?"
It's really got nothing to do with good or bad. You're just wrong in this case and everyone's proving it.
@cmbre:
-The Metal Gear franchise-
MGS2--> released in 2001
MGS3 Snake Eater
MGAc!d 1
MGAc!d 2
MGS Portable Ops
MGS Mobile
MGS touch
With at least two on the way:
MGS Peacewalker
MGS Rising
Besides the two upcoming titles, everything else was released within nine years which is (according to you) some kind of litmus test that a series is milked. I can do the exact same thing with Resident E...
I don't think the complaints are much warranted.
Suda has never been about making the kind of visually or technically intensive games that make UE3 reveal its weak spots. It's a big part of why I like his games. They focus on delivering unique experiences, not blockbuster 3D visuals or rich physics.
Because UE3 is a well made, user friendly, feature friendly engine. It may not be apparent if you've never built a game or 3D project. Devs keep using it because it's flexible and more cost effective than building your own for each occasion.
It's also much cheaper to make a game for DS. Straight business. Minimize costs, maximize profits.
Basically I get the feeling it's like "if our new IP bombs we want to have a major franchise to fall back on". And with the sudden deaths and buyouts of so many studios in the last few years, I can't blame them. It's a risky time to be independent.
The numbers most likely don't accurately reflect.
However, extended warranties and MS's repeated attempts to engineer the problem out says the defect exists and in great enough numbers. There would be little case for either of those reactionary measures if the machine ran as perfectly as MS advertised. The true percentage will never surface, but we know enough to realise failure rates were at an unacceptable level.
Cmbre, the PS3 is showing its strength and the strength of its cell in games like Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2. They're great looking games and enough to definitely give the competition a run for its money if not overwhelm it entirely.
Are you happy now?
Great.
Enjoy Mass Effect 2.
Edit: Uh, not sure why my post supersedes yours.
Argh, I hate JRPGs for that. If there's no choice in the matter, like the lions share of most JRPGs, your protagonist will always fall for the quiet demure woman who may or may not yet be in her teens. At least Persona avoids this.
@outlaw: Well, when you shout from your soapbox about something, people are entitled to question you and your sanity.
I didn't have a tough time with that guy. Oddly enough, I beat him in a single try after having never played LP before. I benefited from watching a few failed attempts by my frustrated friend though.
I tend to play on hard first, so maybe that's the differential with NG. I found DMC series to be a lot easier than NG though, even on hard. The battle mechanics are way more flexible.
Yeah, she was tough. It took me three tries, my friend seven, and our less than skilled friend upwards of 20 tries.
@greek:
You judge too soon me thinks... The entire second half of the article is about why you shouldn't boycott.
The "best warranties"? What the hell. That doesn't exactly inspire confidence in saying your machine is well-built. The 360 is many things, but reliable, no.
It's so laughable for them to say this because the 360 has at least one more well known defect in the form of its disc drive. Which is doubly unforgivable if you remember the original Xbox suffered the SAME problem. Hardware just isn't their strength.
THANK YOU, Bioware. I'm glad this time PC gamers don't have to play second fiddle to consoles.
People argue life bars and medkits were unrealistic? What's the excuse for magically regenerating health, I wonder.
@blind
Why are you bringing up PC? If the PC version has more than one disc, you will never need to swap because every PC game benefits from installation to the HDD. This has been a standard practice for decades. PC version =/= 360 version.
As for Rage, the 360's core problem is the damn HDD. If the goddamn thing wasn't so tiny and exorbitantly priced, MS might have gone a route similar to the PC and never had to worry about DVD-9 limitations. It's no hassle to switc...
"proven wrong?. What?. Did i say FF, Mario, RE is not milked?. Where in my original comment did i say that MGS is not milked?."
Well yes, by your actions. (No you did not mention MGS at all, I brought it in as a contrast.)
"Apart from DMC. All the other franchise you have listed spanned 3 or more generations"
You inferred that Halo is milked while those other franchises aren't or that it is forgiveable simply because they have been ar...
